About Laurel
Laurel calls herself a jack of all trades and a master of none. She grew up in a mystical place called Idaho, surrounded by a thriving artistic community (yes, they have artists in Idaho). Her parents were both fine artists and her mother was very active in the community.
She began writing in her mid-teens. Despite encouragement by teachers and writer friends of her parents, she shied away from taking writing her seriously.
At 18 Laurel left the mountains for the foggy ocean air of San Francisco. The plan was to attend the San Francisco Art Institute, which she did, and promptly leave for another big city, which she didn’t.
Under the blanket of moody weather, Laurel has been happily playing on the fringes of the art community for years. She worked in the Bay Area film industry both as a production assistant and actress. She has performed her poetry in front of a live jazz band at clubs all over the city.
Laurel worked at an art gallery as the office manager and has the principle shooting completed on a feature length documentary.
Who is Laurel?
In 2006 Laurel switched gears and became an RN. She currently works in Pediatric Emergency and loves it! To keep creative in her spare time, she crochets, quilts and makes beach glass jewelry.
After years of self doubt and mental torture, Laurel decided that indeed she could write a book. She sat down and did just that. Three rewrites later, finished her first novel in April of 2009. The novel titled, Protection is an urban fantasy. It is the first in the Fabric of Life series. She completed her second novel, Playing with the Fairies in April of 2010. It is another urban fantasy though it’s set in wonderful Boise, Idaho. Her latest novel Unnatural Freak of Nature, finished in September 2010, also takes place in Boise.
In 2011, Laurel’s life got upended by the birth of her first son, a time consuming brain vacuum. Now the real challenge of true love (children) and undeniable desire (writing) clash, mix and generally wreak havoc in her life.
Laurel is currently seeking representation for the publication for her works.
